My preview of the ICC Cricket world cup begins by previewing the associate nations and their chances of success at the tournament. All photos courtesy of cricinfo.com.

United Arab Emirates – ICC ODI Ranking: N/A

This will be the second world cup appearance for the UAE and it will likely be a short appearance. While the team of 1996 did manage to pick up a win over the Netherlands, this time around they will be in more unfamiliar conditions so it will be interesting to see how they adapt. The Emirate’s best chance of victory will be against Ireland at the Gabba. A lot of the Emirate players do have impressive ODI stats from playing the associate nations. Opener Amjad Ali averages 43.55 with the bat and Khurram Kahn 53.37 , so it will be interesting to see how these players step up against the bigger teams.
